Founded in 2015 by Kris O’Neill, The CannonBawz Run is a car rally which has taken hundreds of Cars and entrants on exciting journeys all across Scotland, and in the process raises money for The Marfan Trust and other guest charities.

The CannonBawz Run 7 - August 2021

August 2021 saw the 7th year of The CannonBawz Run, a charity car event ran annually. Over 50 cars from supercar to sports and classics hit the road from Elgin high street. The cars embarked on a 560 mile journey around the incredible roads of the North Coast 500 with an overnight stop in Ullapool, hosting a charity auction and live music before starting early on Sunday to complete the rest of the journey at Dunronbin Castle where we were joined by the incredible Back To The Future Delorian time machine which blew us all away . 

The run was dreamt up and run by myself, Kris O'Neill, an air ambulance paramedic based in Inverness, originally to raise money for the Marfan Trust. My inspiration for the event is my hero and younger brother Liam who sadly passed away recently from Marfan syndrome, a rare genetic condition Marfan syndrome effects the connective tissue around the body. 

Liam has had serious operations from a young age and was in intensive care following a huge heart operation in April 2021, Liam was and still is mine and everyone’s hero, he’s the strongest and kindest man I have ever met. I am so proud to have him as my brother, he would never let things stop him from achieving his goals, even becoming a Karate Instructor. Liam was two belts away from his black belt which his Dojo has awarded him for his heroic fight.

Myself and Liam ran The CannonBawz Run charity together for 7 years, over the years we have raised over nearly £30k for the charities we have supported, meeting incredible folk and enjoyed amazing adventures. I have since continued to run CannonBawz in Liam’s Memory, knowing Liam is by my side.

As well as the entry fee to events and merchandise sales, The CannonBawz Charity Auction is a great way to further help these charities with many kind donations from people and businesses over the years from bottles of spirit, clothing, hampers, supercar driving days and flight simulator experiences.
